Tim Jahnigen and Lisa Tarver, inventors of Fauna Sauna and founders of Wavemaker LLC, live in Berkeley, California. Their family includes four children, Anne Karina, Tatjana, Tomas and Alex; three cats, Zuni, Luna, and Ella; their dog, Bailey, and Russa, their snake.

Tim has worked in the far infrared industry for many years, researching and promoting the benefits of far infrared, and selling high-quality far infrared saunas across the country.

We love Infrared. We have our own far infrared sauna at home. We use it regularly and enjoy all its many benefits to our health.

The Seed of Our Idea
One day, as we were relaxing in the sauna, our cats, Zuni and Luna, came meowing at the door, asking to come in. Our first thought was that they would come in to say hello for a few seconds and then want out, never to come back again. We couldn’t have been more wrong!

After greeting us, they both proceeded to stretch out right in front of the heat emitters and relax, preen and purr.....they were enjoying the soothing radiant heat just like we were!

That was just the beginning. The next day and just about every day since, the cats were right back at the door wanting in. Sometimes they spend 5 or 10 minutes, sometimes they stay as long as 45 minutes enjoying the soothing warmth. They even started coming to the sauna when we weren’t using it, scratching and meowing at the door to get in!

Sitting in our sauna, two cats sprawled on the floor purring, we had our “A-HA!” moment: we would develop a far infrared device specifically for dogs and cats that could be easily used at home.

We Wish We Had One Earlier
We immediately knew that there was a tremendous need for our idea. Only the year before, we had watched Boomer, our wonderful golden retriever, decline in health with arthritis, pulmonary edema, and ultimately congestive heart failure. The vet visits and the cost of medications added up quickly.

We realized, in retrospect, that had we had such a device it could have made Boomer more comfortable and been virtually as effective as some of his medications and at a fraction of the cost.

We Explored Our Idea With Experts
We began our research, talking with veterinarians, alternative veterinary health professionals, and Infrared specialists, including one of the leading authorities in the United States on radiant heat. We reviewed studies and adapted what we know about the extraordinary benefits of Infrared for people to pets.

We have had our ideas and design rigorously evaluated by animal health professionals, with animal health and safety as our fundamental guide.

Since day one, from the drawing board to final product, Fauna Sauna has had one goal: to provide a safe, simple way for dogs, cats, and other animals to enjoy the extraordinary benefits of Infrared in the comfort of their own homes.
